Our group lessons include a maximum of 6 persons per coach. How many people join a group lesson will depend on the student’s level, where the lesson will be held and the conditions. We always try to divide the groups according to different levels to ensure you have the best learning experience.
Yes, we are a certified surf school with insurance.
Payment is always made on site with the coach in Cash, Debit or Credit Card, GooglePay, ApplePay or MBWAY
Our lessons take place in English or Portuguese.
But some of our surf instructors also speak German, Spanish and French. We always need to check availability upon request
Bookings & Cancellations
If you plan to visit Ericeira during the high season (June until October) we highly recommend booking your surf lessons in advance. This way, we can guarantee a spot for you.
You can book a lesson directly through the online booking system on our website, via our contact form or by calling us directly. It is best to book at least 24 hours in advance, and the sooner, the better. This way, we can help you get the date and time that works best for you!
Yes, we offer discounts for large groups and families. Please contact us for more details.
Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel. Note that cancellations made less than 24 hours before the lesson may not be refundable.
Surf Equipment
You should bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and water bottle. You might also want to take some warm clothes, as it tends to cool down in the evenings. We provide all the surfing equipment, including surfboards, booties and wetsuits. It’s best to avoid bringing valuable belongings such as laptops, cameras etc., even if you come with your car.
Yes, in private lessons you can use your own board and wetsuit. Due to safety reasons, in group lessons, it’s better to use our equipment.
The equipment is meant to be used only during the surf session. To keep the equipment implies a rental with our surf school.
Yes, we offer surfboard rentals for experienced surfers.
Student features
The minimum age for enrollment varies, but typically, children must be at least 6 to 8 years old.
Yes, knowing how to swim is a prerequisite for all our surfing courses. You should be able to swim at least 50 meters unaided.
Before your surf lesson, it’s important to know that you should be able to swim, be in good health, and be prepared for physical activity.
On average, the basics of surfing are learned between 3 to 5 lessons (catching waves in the whitewash and making turns). However, the number of lessons you need depends on your personal goals, skill level, and how quickly you learn. Hour lessons are very demanding and most of our surfers only stand 1 lesson per day.
Surf Location Features
The World Surfing Reserve of Ericeira stretches over 4 kilometers and includes seven world-class waves and many beaches. In our opinion, Ribeira D’ilhas is one of the best beaches to surf in Ericeira as it offers a variety of waves for beginner-, intermediate- and advanced-level surfers.
We always book the lessons according to the best conditions on that day. Most of our surf lessons are held at Ribeira D’ilhas beach, but if the conditions are challenging we might shift it to Matadouro Beach or Praia dos Pescadores.
Ericeira is a safe place to surf. However, most surf breaks in Ericeira have a rock bottom. We therefore recommend being with a coach in your first sessions. Having a coach with you, is the best and safest way to improve your surfing.
Wind conditions in Ericeira can vary. We recommend you contact us to check the conditions.
Our lessons go ahead rain, hail or shine. However, safety is our top priority. If the weather conditions are unsafe, we will reschedule the lesson. We always make the schedule accordingly with the best tides, winds and conditions in mind.
